Fun with friends

Hazel and Fiver
Last night I went down to Beverly to go bowling with friends. It was my friend Becky's birthday, so we celebrated by bowling, then going back to hers and husband, my friend Peter's, place.

It was such a nice time. It was a lot of fun to see one another again. Naomi and Chris brought Carl, their son, who's 9 months old. We played CatchPhrase and had food and good conversation. It was really nice to be with a group of people my own age and just enjoy one anothers' company. Peter and Becky are having an Olympics party in mid-February, so we'll all get together again then, and I decided it was high time I have another gathering at my place, now that it's looking really good. They haven't been over here in over a year now.

In the end it felt good to purpose to get together again, and to plan for it rather than a "hey, I'm not doing anything, come on over!".

In other news, the January Thaw we had is officially over. It's snowing big time out there. Our church didn't cancel services, but I opted not to go; didn't feel like driving in this weather. I should use the time to take down my Christmas stuff in preparation for putting it into storage, even if I don't actually get it up there.

I have some school work to do... nothing pressing, more like just getting ahead. I feel really good about work when I'm way ahead and ready for things.

And Mogget's growing like a bleeping WEED. He's not just getting heavier, but taller and longer, and I can see his features changing a little bit. It's nice that he's so healthy and that he survived to get this big (and probably bigger!). On days like this I look out at the snow and think about him being out in it and am all the more happy I took him in. Pepper's still cute as ever, I woke up this morning with him curled up beside me purring. He's another one... it's hard to think of him at the shelter in that little cage for 3 months. He's such a sweetheart.

I should finish my breakfast and get to work on stuff now.
